Uttar Pradesh Decides to Come Up With Its Own Logistics Policy To Boost Exports and Economic Growth in 2018

For the first time in Indian history, the state government is drafting its own logistic policy for economic growth and industrial development for the growth of export and cargo industry. The chief secretary of the UP state government, Rajive Kumar told Economics Times that UP government can benefit from various spheres as freight corridors enter Uttar Pradesh from all directions. Mainly, the eastern and western freight corridors and many more corridors passing through Uttar Pradesh will be used as an edge for logistics revolution expected to happen. Uttar Pradesh government logistics policy will entail the establishment of industrial parks across the state starting with 200 crores and provide incentives to logistics players if they invest in cargo and logistics sector in the state. Next meeting is planned with key industry players in warehousing industry who can contribute to logistics growth. This was an inter-departmental meeting wherein several modalities of the policy were discussed. Thereafter the state government with coordination with top officials and players of cargo and logistics, warehousing industry aim to have a concentrated framework on state logistics policies. Followed by this pharma, electric vehicles and defense policies were also discussed in the state meet. Following Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana also think of creating a roadmap for state logistics policies for economic growth. These two states are also planning to draft their logistics policies.
